A note on power

I feel that everyone needs a boost of motivation every now and then. Actually, I could really use that myself most times, to lift spirits, to be extremely optimistic and highly inspired. Reading Rewan's post somehow made me a little motivated to really strive for what I want. It also triggered a memory of a quote shown to me by someone very smart.

I was told that this quote is from Nelson Mandela's inaugural speech. But, I just read somewhere that it was originally written by Marriane Williams, who I know nothing of. No matter who wrote or said it, it has meaning and the power to move nonetheless.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

I do believe that we are powerful beyond measure, and there's no need for us to be afraid of that power within. There is absolutely no reason why we cannot achieve what we set out to do. We can live our life however way we want and make our dreams come true.

What a nice thought.

they quote the quote almost all the damn time to a point that some argued nelson mandela wasn't the first to have said it -in fact he quoted from someone else.

but it's beautiful nonetheless, i hope your spirits lifted.
